Instructions for Amplified Cell/Satellite Phone Adapter (PA-86A)

Thank you for purchasing our amplified Cell/Satellite Phone Adapter. Your adapter will give you an extra
safety net as well as allow you to listen to music through your aviation headset. The safety net is the
ability to be able to use your cell phone in an emergency situation in case your radio fails. You’ll be able
to file flight plans and receive clearances where radio communications are not possible. Access to
Aviation Weather Briefings and Pilot Reports will be no problem. You will be able to listen to music from
a variety of music sources all through your standard aviation headset.

The adapter is fitted with a 2 position toggle switch. Place the toggle switch in the ON position when
using the adapter and phone in “stand alone” mode (not plugged in to aircraft or intercom). Place the
toggle switch in the AUTO position when in the aircraft and plugged into an intercom or radio.

Open the battery compartment and install a 9V alkaline battery.

Plug the dual plugs (male) of the cell phone adapter into the aircraft panel/intercom’s microphone
and headphone jacks (female).

Plug your headset’s dual plugs (male) into the inline headphone and microphone jacks (female)
coming from one end of the amplified cell phone adapter.

There are 2 patch cords included. One of them is to be used with Smartphones and music devices.
The other cord can be used with Satellite phones or older “flip phones”

The patch cord with the 3.5mm plug on both ends is for Smartphones/Music devices. Insert one
end into the 3.5mm jack on the faceplate of the amplified cell phone adapter and the other end in
to phone/music device.

The patch cord with the 4 conductor 3.5mm plug (w/ 3 black stripes) on one end and a smaller
2.5mm plug on the other is for Satellite phones/flip phones. Insert the plug in to the 3.5mm jack on
the faceplate of the amplified cell phone adapter and the other end in to phone

Now you’re ready to talk, dial-out and answer calls as you normally would. Or you can listen to music or
audible checklists through your headset from any Audio device.

*This telephone adapter is not intended for in-flight use and should only be used in accordance with FCC

Regulations and FAA Safety Standards.*
