Charger

The RZT-S Zero has a 48 volt system. The mower gets 48 volts through four batteries, wired in series. These

batteries form a battery pack and are all charged as one unit.

NOTE: Only use the charger that came with the mower to charge the batteries.

To charge the batteries:

1.

Plug the charger’s DC plug into the receptacle on the mower’s left fender.

NOTE: Never disconnect the charger’s DC plug while the charger is plugged into an AC power supply. This

can result in arcing damage to the connector or short out the harness.

2.

Plug the charger’s AC cord into an appropriate power source.

NOTE: Different LEDs will light up or flash while the batteries are charging. Refer to the charger’s operator’s

manual for the meaning of the LEDs and their flash codes.

NOTE: The mower will not start while the charger is plugged into the Mower’s charger receptacle.

3.

When the green charged LED is the only LED that is lit, the battery pack is fully charged.

4.

Disconnect the charger from the AC power source.

5.

Disconnect the DC plug from the mower.

Batteries can be dangerous to work around. Here are some precautions that can help pre-
vent injuries to the technician.

Have someone within range of your voice in case of an emergency.

Have clean running water near by to wash away any acid that may get on the technician.

Always wear eye and clothing protection and avoid touching eyes.

If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water.

If acid contacts an eye, immediately flush the eye out with running cold water for at least 10 min-
utes. Get medical attention immediately.

NEVER smoke or allow a spark or flame in vicinity of battery.

Be extra cautious not to drop a metal tool onto battery. It might spark or short circuit battery or
other electrical part that may cause an explosion.

Remove metal items that can cause a short, such as rings, necklaces, watches, etc. Batteries
can produce a current high enough to weld such items causing a severe burn.

Never try to charge a frozen battery.

! CAUTION

! CAUTION

Never connect or disconnect the DC plug from the mower’s charging receptacle while the
charger is on. The resulting arcing and burning of the plug and receptacle could cause the bat-
teries to explode. Disconnect the AC cord from its power supply first, then connect or discon-

nect the charger DC plug from the charging receptacle.
