RECTANGULAR & SQUARE STAINLESS STEEL WATER BATHS

ELECTRIC HEAT MODELS 1493, 1493-2, 1494 & 1494-2

(Please read these instructions completely before operating)

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Boekel’s Rectangular and Square Stainless Steel
Water Baths are table top concentric ring baths which
provide a constant gentle uniform heat. The units are
ideal for evaporating solvents or melting or dissolving
solids. These water baths are constructed of corrosion
resistant stainless steel and are manufactured with
permanently attached legs for stability.

The model 1493 is a square water bath with four bath
access holes and the 1494 is rectangular with eight
access holes. Boekel’s stainless steel water baths
come fully assembled and are functional right out of
the box. All water baths come with concentric ring
covers, a water level and drain cock.

UNPACKING

1. Remove the water bath from the carton.
2. Inspect for damage. Report all shipping

damage to the carrier immediately. Shipping
damages are covered by the carrier and repair
and/or replacement for shipping damages must
be coordinated through the carrier.

3. Retain all packing material in the event that the

unit must be returned.

4. Completely fill out and return the self-

addressed Boekel warranty card.

SET-UP

1. Place the water bath on a flat surface capable

of withstanding the radiated heat produced by
typical water baths.

2. Connect a water supply line and a drain line to

the unit’s water level regulator. The water
supply connects to the hose barb fitting and
the drain line connects to the overflow tube
bottom. Fill the water bath via the top to the
desired water level (use distilled water
whenever possible for filling and supply to
reduce mineral deposit accumulation). Adjust
the overflow tube in the water level regulator to
the desired water height in the bath.

This adjustment is made by sliding the tube up
or down so that the top of the tube is at the
desired water height. Turn on the water supply
so that a slight dripping is produced from the
drain or bottom of the overflow tube. This set-
up will allow the water bath to maintain a
constant water level.

3. Plug the power cord into a grounded

receptacle of the appropriate voltage.

OPERATION

1. Turn the main heater switch and the auxiliary

heater switch to the “ON” positions.

2. Rotate the Control knob clockwise to increase

the temperature. Counterclockwise rotation
will reduce the temperature.

3. The red Pilot Light will illuminate when the

heater is turned on. The light will alternate on
and off when the bath reaches the desired
temperature.

4. Allow 90 minutes for the temperature to

equilibrate from a cold start. Allow at least 30
minutes for equilibration when adjusting the
temperature. Turn the auxiliary heater ‘OFF’
once the desired bath temperature is reached.
The main heater will typically keep the bath at
the set temperature.

CLEANING

1. Disengage power cord before performing any

cleaning.

2. The bath interior and exterior may be cleaned

with a damp cloth or sponge and warm water.

3. Any mineral deposit should be carefully

removed to keep the unit in good operating
condition.
