In-Line Wall Suction Filter

INSTRUCTIONS

The Buffalo Filter In-Line Wall Suction Filter

is used to filter smoke plume, aerosols and debris

generated during laser and electrosurgical procedures. Per NIOSH publication no. 96-128, in-line filter

protection is required when room suction is used for smoke plume capture.

Instructions:

1. Remove hose barb cap. Install ¼ inch tubing to the hose barb at the “suction” end of the filter.

Connect this tubing to wall suction.

2. Remove hose barb cap. Install ¼ inch tubing to the hose barb at the “patient” end of the filter.

Connect this tubing to the surgical laser, electrosurgical pencil adaptor or other appropriate surgical

instrument.

3. Install a fluid collection device (Buffalo Filter part number SCC1001) between the filter and the

surgical instrument if excessive fluid is expected. Failure to install a fluid collection device could

cause filter blockage and/or failure.

4. This filter is considered a single use filter and should be removed and discarded after each surgical

procedure. Used filters are considered biohazardous waste; handle according to appropriate

hospital protocol.
