MECHANISM OF ALCA OPERATION

The operation of the ALCA system is variable in two ways; (1)

between before and after the AUTO BLE XD system setting,

and; (

2

) between the digital input and analog input.

(1) <Before the AUTO BLE XD system setting>

The recording level is controlled according to the standard

allowable level which has been set previously for each tape

type (I, II, IV|).

<After the AUTO BLE XD system setting> ‘

The characteristic of the tape is detected during the tuning

of the AUTO BLE XD system. After this, the recording level
is controlled by determining the maximum allowable level

which can be used in recording according to the tape char

acteristic.

(2) <With analog input>

The optimum recording level is set automatically according
to the allowable level set in (

1

).

<With digital input>

The recording level is determined so that the full-bit data

(loudest signal) becomes the allowable level recorded on

the tape.

• The ALCA system cannot be used in tape copying.

During parallel recording, the ALCA system functions ac

cording to the tape with the lower allowable level.

The manual recording level control is possible only in the

mode in which the ALCA system is deactivated and the ana
log input is selected.

Any of the Dolby NR types can be used together with the

ALCA system. Changing the Dolby NR type after the record

ing level adjustment by the ALCA system does not affect

the ALCA effect.

Pressing the ALCA button in the middle of record or record

ing mute mode cannot cancel the ALCA system.

• The data set by the ALCA system is retained in the standby

mode of the unit as well as after the power cord has been
unplugged or during timer recording.

DIGITAL SUPER AUTO BLE XD TUNING

<When tuning DECK I or ll>

1. Load a tape for recording in DECK I or II.

• The AUTO BLE XD does not work when the erasure pre

vention tabs of the loaded cassette tape have been bro

ken off.

2. Set the REV MODE button to nz or :zz).
3. Press the BLE XD button.

The BLE XD indicator will flash for about 50 seconds, after
which it will light steadily.
The tape will be forwarded for approximately one second

after pressing the start button so that recording will start
from the recordable portion of the tape.

The operation is completed when the start position Is re

sumed.

<When tuning both decks in sequence>

1. Load tapes in both decks.

2. Set the REV MODE button

to

czd

.

SUPER AUTO BLE XD tuning will be performed on DECK I
and DECK II, respectively.

If the BLE XD button of DECK II is pressed, the tuning will

stop after only DECK II is tuned.

• A tuning signal will be recorded on the casette in the cas

sette deck when using AUTO BLE XD. The music and other
information already recorded on this cassette will be
erased from the point where tuning starts.

tipo de cinta (I, II IV).

1

).

<Con entrada digital>

<Cuando se ajusta la platina I o ll>

ajuste.
