Blind Hem Stitch

(1) Stitch selector:

5 or 6

(2) Stitch length:

1 to 3

(3) Needle thread tension:

1 to 4

(4) Presser foot:

Zigzag foot

(T) Lightweight fabric

@ Heavyweight fabric
(3) Wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric

On heavyweight fabrics that ravel, the raw edge should be
overcast first. Then fold the hem, as iiiustrated leaving 1/4
(0.7 cm) of the hem edge showing.

Position the fabric on the machine so that the needle just
pierces the folded part of the fabric when the needle
comes over to the extreme left side of wide zigzag stitch.

Lower the presser foot.
After hemming is compieted, press both sides of the

finished hem. The top side of the fabric shows only the

blind stitches.

Zigzag foot

Lace adds a fancifui, feminine touch to blouses and
lingerie. Tabie linens and pillows become more elegant
when trimmed with lace.

Fold raw edge of fabric at least 5/8” (1.5 cm). Piace lace
underneath and topstitch with blind hem stitch.
Trim excess fabric close to stitching.
