Speaking Commands
nOTe: You can only speak the names
of very popular, well-known locations.
Use the Where To? menu categories to
search for other locations.
To speak an address:
1. Speak Find Address from any
screen.
2. Respond to the prompts to speak
or spell the city name, the house
number, and the street.
Recognizing Icons and
Tones
The nüvi sounds two tones when it
enters speech recognition mode.
The nüvi sounds two tones when it
exits speech recognition mode.
The nüvi sounds two quick beeps if it
does not recognize your command.
A
red speak icon is displayed in
the upper-right corner of the screen
when the nüvi is not ready for your
command. Wait until the icon is green
to speak your command.

Recognition Tips
Speak commands exactly as they
appear on the screen.
Respond to voice prompts from the
nüvi.
To enter numbers, speak the numbers
you want to enter. Say Delete or
Backspace to delete the last number.
Say Clear to delete all numbers.
Touch the screen or press the small
button on the remote control to exit
speech recognition mode.
