Congratulations on your purchase of the SOUNDMASTER™ Shadow from
Excalibur Electronics Inc. Listen to crystal-clear sound from your iPod, MP3 or
any other sound source—including your computer! Please read this
manual thoroughly, especially noting safety and care instructions. This
package contains, 1 SOUNDMASTER Shadow, 1 AC Power Adapter, 1
Remote Control, 7 Docking Adapters for iPod, 1 - 3.5mm Audio Cable, 1 USB
Cable and 1 User’s Manual.

Functions of the SOUNDMASTER Shadow

Press the MODE button to select the option you want to play. Choose from FM,
AM, AUX, or iPod.

iPod Function
In iPod mode use your iPod as you normally would.

Radio Function
1.
In FM mode use theVOLUME/TUNING+ and the VOLUME/TUNING- buttons to
tune the radio to the desired frequency.
2. In AM mode use the VOLUME/TUNING+ and the VOLUME/TUNING- buttons
to tune the radio to the desired frequency
3. To auto-jump to the next or previous radio station with clear reception, press and
hold the UP/TUNING+ or DOWN/TUNING- buttons for approximately 1 second.

LED Display
Depending on which audio source is selected, the LED display will show the
following information:
iPOD and AUX: Volume level will be shown.
FM/AM Radio: Frequency selected will be shown.

EXCALIBUR ELECTRONICS, INC., warrants to the original consumer that its products are free
from any electrical or mechanical defects for a period of 90 DAYS from the date of purchase. If
any such defect is discovered within the warranty period, EXCALIBUR ELECTRONICS, INC., will
repair or replace the unit free of charge upon receipt of the unit, shipped postage prepaid and
insured to the factory address below. The warranty covers normal consumer use and does not
cover damage that occurs in shipment or failure that results from alterations, accident, misuse,
abuse, neglect, wear and tear, inadequate maintenance, commercial use, or unreasonable use
of the unit. Removal of the top panel voids all warranties. This warranty does not cover cost of
repairs made or attempted outside of the factory. Any applicable implied warranties, including
warranties of merchantability and fitness, are hereby limited to 90 DAYS from the date of
purchase. Consequential or incidental damages resulting from a breach of any applicable
express or implied warranties are hereby excluded. Some states do not allow limitations on the
duration of implied warranties and do not allow exclusion of incidental or consequential
damages, so the above limitations and exclusions in these instances may not apply. The only

Ship the unit carefully packed, preferably in the original carton, and send it prepaid, and
adequately insured. Include a letter detailing the complaint, along with your daytime
telephone number, inside the shipping carton. If your warranty has expired and you want an
estimated fee for service, write to the above address, specifying the model and the problem.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR UNIT WITHOUT RECEIVING AN ESTIMATE FOR SERVICING.

Step 1. Carefully unpack the unit and read this instruction sheet completely. We
recommend that you save the carton and packing materials to store the unit in
case you ever need to return it for service.

Step 2. To connect your iPod, choose the appropriate dock adapter provided (if
needed) for your iPod. Insert the dock adapter by slipping it over the connection
port on the unit, then carefully connect your iPod.

Step 3. Connect the AC adapter plug into the 12V DC IN port on the back of the
SOUNDMASTER Shadow. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet. Press the the
power button on the top of the unit. A red LED will light up to indicate your
SOUNDMASTER Shadow is powered.

Step 4. You can listen to an iPod, MP3 player or other portable audio device
through the AUX port located on the rear of the SOUNDMASTER Shadow by using
the supplied stereo-jack cable. NOTE: The AUX port does not charge your audio
device or iPod.

Step 5. Also located on the rear of the SOUNDMASTER Shadow is a USB port. USB
is a data transfer connection that allows the SOUNDMASTER Shadow to connect
to your computer and keep your iPod charging while still downloading music from
your computer. To use, connect the included USB cable (this is the cable with two
flat, rectangular plugs at each end) into the port on the back of the SOUNDMASTER
Shadow and the other end into the USB port on your computer. Once connected
your computer will recognize your iPod. Continue to use as normal.

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral
triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of
uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure
that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric
shock to persons.

The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended
to alert the user to the presence of important operating and
maintenance (sevicing) instructions in the literature
accompanying the appliance.

The house with an arrowhead symbol is intended to alert the user
to use the transformer in normal indoor temperatures, not
extreme temperatures.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read and keep these instructions for reference.

Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.

Do not use this product near water.

Clean using only a slightly damp cloth. Do not use cleaners with harsh chemical
agents or detergents.

Do not block any of the ventilation openings.

Install and use in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

Do not place product near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or
other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

This product may be equipped with a polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug
having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only
one way. This is a safety feature; if you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet,
try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to
replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

Protect the power cord from being damaged or pinched.

Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

Unplug product during lighting storms or when you are not going to use it for a long
period of time.

Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Service is required when the product
has been damaged in any way. This includes, but isn't limited to, a damaged power
supply cord or plug, liquid spilt or an object dropped onto the product, exposure to
rain or moisture, dropping the product or the product not operating normally.
