The camera
cannot focus.

The subject is too close.

Turn the camera off and then on again.

Colored stripes
appear on the
screen when
shooting.

Colored stripes may appear when shooting subjects with
repeating patterns (such as window blinds); this is not a
malfunction.
The colored stripes will not appear in captured images or
recorded movies.

Images are
blurred or out of
focus.

If Movie VR is set to On when recording movies, change

it to On (hybrid).

Vibration reduction or autofocus may not work properly, due

to unexpected vibration from wind or the surroundings,
even when the camera is stabilized using a tripod, etc.

Vibration reduction or autofocus may not work properly if

the direction of the camera is significantly changed during
panning shots, etc.

Images of moving
subjects or
images captured
while moving are
skewed or
partially distorted.

This is the rolling shutter effect that may occur when a CMOS
electronic shutter is used for shooting. Shooting using 4:3
(2M)
, 16:9 (2M), or 1:1 (2M) will reduce the effect.

Images appear
smeared.

The lenses are dirty. Clean the lenses.

Colors are
unnatural.

White balance is not adjusted properly.

Randomly spaced
bright pixels (“noise”)
