Transom Angle Adjusting Rod Trim Tab The transom angle adjusting rod
limits the tilt angle of the outboard
motor when fully lowered.
Proper adjustment prevents the
outboard motor from being trimmed
too low (p.

The trim tab compensates for
‘‘torque steer’’, which is a reaction of
the outboard motor to propeller
rotation.
If uncompensated, torque steer would
make the outboard motor tend to turn
to one side.
