      • 1. Locate tractor and loader on firm level ground.
      • 2. Level and lower bucket to ground. Engage tractor brakes and shut off tractor engine. Move lift control lever back and forth several times to relieve pressure in lift cylinders.
      • 3. Remove 3/4 lock nuts and washers which clamp hinges closed around mid mounting tubes on tractor.

    • Preparing Stored Loader for Mounting
      • 1. Slowly drive tractor up to loader until hoses will reach from loader to control valve couplers.
      • 2. Make sure quick couplers are clean. Connect quick couplers between tractor and loader. Match color coded bands when connection couplers.
      • 3. Start tractor engine and release tractor brakes. Operate lift control to extend lift cylinders until side frame uprights will clear front axle. Make sure counterweighted hinges swing fully open. Proceed to instruction 1 in “Mounting Procedure”...
      • Mounting Loader
        • 1. Slowly drive tractor up to loader until hoses will reach from loader to tractor. Engage tractor brakes and shut off tractor engine.
        • 2. Connect quick couplers between tractor and loader, matching color coded bands.
        • 3. Start tractor engine and release tractor brakes. Slowly drive tractor ahead while activating lift control lever to extend or retract lift cylinders, positioning tractor so hinges hook midmounting bracket tubes as loader side frame uprights rotate.

  • Quick-Attach Round Bale Spear
    • 1. Temporarily remove 1/2 x 3-1/4 cap screw (3) and lock nut (4).
    • 2. Place bale spike (2) into sleeve of bale spear bracket (1). Use 1/2 x 3-1/4 cap screw (3) and lock nut (4) to fasten bale spike (2) in sleeve of bale spear bracket (1).
  • Attaching Quick Attach Buckets or Round Bale Spear
    • 1. Locate tractor and attachment on firm level ground. Lower boom to rest on ground.
    • 2. Extend bucket cylinders slightly, while raising boom to three to five inches of ground clearance. Making sure loader quick attach bar is parallel to attachment, drive tractor ahead very slowly toward attachment. Continue driving tractor forward, p...
    • 3. Activate bucket rollback while moving tractor slightly ahead so quick attach bar catches underneath channel of attachment. Continue to roll attachment back completely so latch pins engage in bracket ears.
    • 4. Activate lift cylinder to raise attachment and extend bucket cylinders to tilt attachment at a slight downward angle so quick attachment mechanism is visible. Visually inspect mechanism to verify pins are engaged in ears on back of attachment.
  • Detaching Quick Attach Buckets or Round Bale Spear
    • 1. Locate tractor and loader on firm level ground.
    • 2. Lower boom arms until bucket or bale spear rests level on ground. Shut off tractor engine and engage tractor brakes.
    • 3. Disengage latch pins by lifting handles and rotating them so pins and blocks provided on attachment ears.
    • 4. Start tractor engine, release tractor brakes and extend bucket cylinders while slowly backing tractor away from bucket or bale spear, until quick-attach bar disengages from attachment channel.

        • MAINTENANCE SECTION
  • Lubrication Schedule
  • Daily Maintenance
    • 1. Check fluid level of tractor hydraulic system before starting each day’s operation. If necessary, add hydraulic oil as recommended in your tractor operator’s manual.
    • 2. Daily (unless conditions justify more frequent greasing) lubricate all twelve grease fittings; one at each end of lift boom arms and one at rod and base ends of each lift and bucket cylinder.
    • 3. After every ten hours of operation, check all hardware and tighten where required.
    • 4. Replace hoses immediately if they are damaged by a cut or scrape, extruded at the fittings or leaking. Hydraulic oil leaks should be repaired promptly to avoid loss of oil and serious personal injury from escaping oil.
  • Cylinder Service
    • Lift and Bucket Cylinder Disassembly
      • 1. Hold cylinder tube (13) stationary and pull wire ring (14) out through slot.
      • 2. Pull shaft (1), with all assembled parts, out of cylinder tube (13).
      • 3. Remove elastic locknut (12) from end of shaft and slide cylinder piston (10) and cylinder head (4) off shaft.
      • 4. Remove piston wear ring (11), piston seal (8), and o-ring (7) from outside grooves on piston(10).
      • 5. Remove wiper seal (2), rod seal (3) and wear ring (5) from inside of cylinder head and o-ring (7) with backup washer (6) from groove on outside of head.
      • 6. Clean all parts including cylinder tube, in a suitable cleaning solvent, then use air pressure to blow any dirt or excess solvent from all parts.
      • 7. Examine all parts for wear or damage and replace, if necessary.
      • Lift and Bucket Cylinder Reassembly
        • 1. Place rod seal (3) into groove inside cylinder head.
        • 2. Install wiper seal (2) with lip of seal facing out and flush with top of cylinder head (5). Install wear ring (4) inside other end of head (5).
        • 3. Place o-ring (7) with back-up washer (6) in groove on outside of head. Back-up washer must be on rod side.
        • 4. Remove sharp edges on outer edge of the threaded end of shaft (1). Lubricate wiper seal (2) and rod seal (3) in head and carefully slide head onto shaft.
        • 5. Place o-ring (10), piston seal (11) and piston wear ring (8) in grooves on outside of piston (9).
        • 6. Slide piston (9) onto threaded end of shaft and install lock nut (12). Tighten lock nut to 100 lbs.
        • 7. Lubricate piston wear ring (8) and piston seal (11) on piston, o-ring (7) and backup washer (6) on head and inside of cylinder tube (13), then carefully slide piston and head into cylinder tube (13).
        • 8. Insert wire retaining ring (14) into slot in cylinder tube (13). Apply pressure to wire ring to thread it into groove while turning cylinder head.
  • Storage
    • 1. Store loader with attachment securely attached.
    • 2. Place dust caps on hydraulic quick couplers.
    • 3. Do not remove attachment from stored loader.
    • 4. Do not allow children to play on or around loader.

  • 3. If parts not made or supplied by Bush Hog have been used in connection with the unit, if, in the sole judgement of Bush Hog such use affects its performance, stability or reliability.
  • 4. If the unit has been altered or repaired outside of an authorized Bush Hog dealership in a manner which, in the sole judgement of Bush Hog, affects its performance, stability or reliability.
  • 5. To normal maintenance service and normal replacement items such as gearbox lubricant, hydraulic fluid, worn blades, or to normal deterioration of such things as belts and exterior finish due to use or exposure.
  • 6. To expendable or wear items such as teeth, chains, sprockets, belts, springs and any other items that in the company’s sole judgement is a wear item.
