PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

BURNERS DO NOT

•

Electrical plug is not plugged into a live power outlet.

LIGHT OR SPARK

•

Gas not turned on.

RANDOMLY

•

Burner parts not replaced correctly.

•

Holes in the simmer rings or slits in the burner rings are clogged.

•

Clogged orifice, or wet burners or electrodes.

BURNERS HAVE

•

Burner parts not replaced correctly.

YELLOW OR
YELLOW-TIPPED
FLAMES

•

If burner flames look like (A), call for service. Normal burner flames
should look like (B) or (C), depending on the type of gas.

BURNER FLAMES

•

If cooktop is connected to LP gas, contact the person who installed

BURNER CONTROL

•

When the knob is at the OFF position, it must be pushed in before

• The oven controls are improperly set. See the “How to set your oven

PROPERLY

• Incorrect cookware or cookware of improper size being used.

See the “How to set your oven for baking or roasting” section.

• Use a foil tent to slow down browning during roasting.

FOOD DOES NOT

• The oven control is not set at BROIL. Push in the BROIL selector

BROIL PROPERLY

button for the oven you want to use.

• Improper shelf position being used. See the Broiling Guide.

• Cookware is not suited for broiling. Use the broiling pan and grid

that came with your range.

• Aluminum foil used on the broiling pan and grid has not been fitted

properly and slit as recommended.

• In some areas the power (voltage) may be low. Preheat the broil

element for 10 minutes. Broil for the longest period of time
recommended in the Broiling Guide.

A. Yellow flames: Call for

service.

B. Yellow tips on outer cones:

Normal for LP gas.

C. Soft blue flames: Normal

for natural gas.
