To write-protect data
The tab on “Memory Stick” allows you to prevent from accidentally
changing the data stored on it.
By sliding the tab from side to side, the write-protection tab changes from
write enable to write protect.

Allows you to write data.

By sliding the tab to the right, the write-protection changes to write
protect.
Data can be read, but not written.
