another that reflects the suberror. The possible values for errors and suberrors, and
the suggested method of recovery, are described in

Appendix A, Error Messages

.

Error Recovery

Execution Errors

When SWID cannot recover from an execution error, it calls ABEND and transfers a
message text to the ABEND procedure. If you invoked the SWID process from TACL,
TACL displays the ABEND message. For a complete list of ABEND messages, see

Appendix A, Error Messages

.

IN File

If the IN file is a disk file and not an EDIT type file, SWID processes existing run-line
commands and then abends.

OUT File

When the OUT file is a disk file, the file code of the OUT file must be 101. If the file is
not an EDIT type file (code 101), SWID attempts to purge the existing file and create
an EDIT type file. If an EDIT file exists, SWID appends its output to it.

SWID abends if it receives an I/O error on the OUT file. SWID stops if it gets an error
writing to the OUT file. However, SWID handles the error if the OUT file is a disk file.

Files to be Fingerprinted

SWID recovers from any errors on the file to be fingerprinted. SWID logs the error in
the OUT file, skips fingerprinting that particular file, and continues with the next file.
