Snapshot secondary volume consistency maintenance

If you are sharing the SS P-VOL with one of the following S-VOLs, ensure the following to maintain
SS S-VOL consistency:

(BC, Cnt Ac-S, and/or Cnt Ac-J) The pair status must be the same.

For more information:

About sharing BC P-VOLs and S-VOLs with SS P-VOLs, see

“Business Copy/Snapshot”

(page 29)

External volumes

External volumes are volumes on external systems. You can connect multiple external storage
systems to a P9500 storage system. You can use external volumes as pool-VOLs, but this blocks
the pool-VOLS and the pool.

External-volume failures

To minimize the effects of the external-volume failure, specify one kind of volume as data pool-VOLs
in a particular pool, either internal volumes or external volumes.

For more information about external systems and the solutions for the errors related to external
volumes, see the HP XP P9000 External Storage for Open and Mainframe Systems User Guide.
