1.

In the Storage Systems tree, select Pools > Create Pools.

2.

In the Create Pools window, for Pool Type, select Snapshot.

3.

In the Pool Volume Selection area of the Create Pools window, complete the following items:

For Drive Type/RPM, select your system’s data drive type and RPM.

Values:

- Mixable

- External Storage

For RAID Level, select your system’s RAID level.

NOTE:

If you select External Storage as the drive type/RPM, a single dash (-) is shown

as the RAID level, which indicates that you cannot select the RAID level.

In the Pool Volume Selection area of the Create Pools window, click Select Pool VOLs, and
complete the following:

In the Select Pool Volumes window, in the Available Pool Volumes table, select the
pool-VOLs you want and click Add.

2.

Complete the following and then click OK:

- To select all pool-VOLs in the list, click Select All Pages.

- To filter the rows, for Filter, click ON.

- To specify the number of rows to show, click Options and make the selection.

- To select pool-VOLs, select the pool-VOL from the Available Pool Volumes table and
move it to the Selected Pool Volumes table.

5.

In the Create Pools window, for Pool Name, type a name for the pool and then click Options.

6.

In the Options area of the Create Pools window, complete the following items and then click
Add:

For Initial Pool ID, enter a number.

For Warning Threshold, select a data pool capacity threshold.

The new pool is added to the Selected Pools table.

7.

Click Finish.

NOTE:

To create the data pool and then continue to the next page where you can create

LDEVs for the pools, click Next.

8.

In the Confirm window, click Apply.

The data pool is created.

Prerequisite Information

The data pool must exist.

The V-VOL must be the same size as the P-VOL.

The V-VOL recognized by the host server must have a status of “PSUS”.

You can create a maximum of 64 V-VOLs per P-VOL.

For HP-UX/Solaris and other operating systems: Do not use a volume that is already recognized
by the host server as a V-VOL. For more information about the HP-UX host servers operating
