Example 3
You want to create one pair with two S-VOLs and another pair with one S-VOL. For Number of
Secondary Volumes, type 2.
In this case, the storage system assumes that you are creating two pairs, each having two S-VOLs,
as shown in the following figure.
Removing and moving volumes
1.
In the Storage Systems tree, click Replications > Local Replications > Pairs.
2.
In the Pairs tab of the Local Replications window, click Create Pairs.
3.
In the Select Pair Configuration window, for Number of Secondary Volumes, type the number
of S-VOLs that you want to pair, and then click Next.
4.
In the Select Primary Volumes window, select two LDEVs as P-VOLs, and then click Next.
5.
In the Select Secondary Volumes window, complete the following and then click Next:
1.
Select three LDEVs from the Available LDEVs table as the S-VOLs.
2.
In the Selected Pairs table, delete the unwanted row by selecting it and clicking Remove.
The volumes are removed and moved.
Creating pairs
Use this procedure if you are creating pairs with the same number of S-VOLs. Use the Create Pairs
wizard to create pairs.
NOTE:
If you are using SS, Split Type, Copy Pace, and Pair Topology Type are unavailable.
NOTE:
If the pair is in “SMPL (PD)” status, you cannot create the pair. To shorten the period when
the pair is in “SMPL (PD)” status, do the following:
1.
Resynchronize the pair. For more information about resynchronizing pairs, see
and restoring pairs” (page 42)

2.
Wait until the pair status changes to “PAIR”.
3.
Delete the pair. For more information about deleting pairs, see

Open the Create Pairs wizard. Complete one of the following:
•
Click General Tasks > Create Pairs.
•
In the Storage Systems tree, click Replications > Local Replications > Pairs > Create Pairs.
2.
In the Select Pair Configuration window of the Create Pairs wizard, complete the following
items and then click Next:
•
For Copy Type, select Snapshot.
•
For Emulation Type, OPEN-V is selected by default.
NOTE:
If you are using SS, this item is unavailable.
