The following table shows the pair status and descriptions. The P-VOL and V-VOL access columns
in the following table indicate whether the volumes accept read/write.
V-VOL access P-VOL access Description Status
R/W disabled Yes The pair is in the process of being deleted. You cannot perform pair
operations while the pair is in this status. After the pair is deleted,
the status changes to “SMPL”. SMPL(PD)
R/W disabled Yes The storage system has accepted the paircreate initial copy. The
storage system accepts read/write operations to the P-VOL, but does
not accept read/write operations to the S-VOL. COPY
R/W disabled Yes The volumes are paired. The storage system does not accept
read/write operations to the S-VOL. PAIR
R/W enabled.
Can be mounted. Yes The snapshot is split. The storage system accepts read/write
operations to the S-VOL. Differential data between the P-VOL and
S-VOL is retained. You can immediately perform the resync operation. PSUS
R/W disabled Yes The data pool threshold is exceeded in “PAIR” status. PFUL
R/W enabled Yes The data pool threshold is exceeded in “PSUS” status. PFUS
R/W disabled Yes The pair is in the process of reverse pairresync. The storage system
does not accept read/write operations to the S-VOL. Only the S-VOL
differential data is copied to the P-VOL. RCPY*
R/W disabled Yes The storage system has suspended the pair. The storage system
accepts read/write operations to the P-VOL, but does not accept
read/write operations to the S-VOL. PSUE
* Starting time of the copy depends on numbers of pairs and your system environment.
CAUTION: When you run DEVSERVE to a read/write disabled volume, the message
INTERVENTION REQUIRED appears. If you have created pairs with the volumes online, and then
run DEVSERVE to a read/write disabled volume, a normal value is returned.
Monitoring pair properties
You can view data related to pairs and their volumes, including volume capacity, status, P-VOLs
and S-VOLs, identifiers, and several other details.

In the Storage Systems tree, click Replications > Local Replications.
2. In the Local Replications window, select the pair and then click More Actions > View Pair
Properties.
The pair properties are shown in the View Tier Properties window.
Monitoring synchronous rates
You can check on the percentage of data that is synchronized between the P-VOLs and S-VOLs.
NOTE: You can show the latest synchronous rate by clicking Refresh View. If you close the
window, information in the Local Replications window may not be the latest. Click Refresh View
again.
1. In the Storage Systems tree, click Replications > Local Replications.
2. In the Local Replications window, select the pair and click More Actions > View Pair
Synchronous Rate.
The synchronous rates are shown in the View Pair Synchronous Rate window.
