3 Installing and removing the RMD tool

Installing the RMD tool on the backup server

The RMD tool must be installed only on the backup server. To install the RMD tool:
1.

Navigate to the folder containing the HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool installation
executable.

2.

Double-click the setup.exe file to start installation.

The HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool—InstallShield Wizard window appears.

3.

Click Next to continue.

The End User License Agreement window appears.

4.

If you agree with the end user license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license
agreement and then click Next.

The Destination Folder window appears.

5.

Click Next to install the Tool in the default folder location.

The User Credentials window appears.

6.

Enter the logged-in user credentials and click Next.

NOTE:

If port number 9942 is busy, you are prompted to enter an alternate port number.

7.

Click Install.

The InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears. The installation takes approximately
two minutes to complete.

8.

When the installation is complete, click Finish.

NOTE:

After successful installation:

The HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool for Recovery Manager
for VMware vSphere

service is created.

The Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool for RM for VMware vSphere shortcut
is created on the desktop.

Verifying installation

To verify the installation of the RMD tool for Windows Server 2008 R2:
1.

Log on as system administrator.

2.

Click Start

→Control Panel→Programs and Features.

3.

Verify that HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool for RM for VMware
vSphere

appears in the Currently installed programs column.

To verify the installation of the RMD tool for Windows Server 2012:
1.

Log on as system administrator.

2.

Navigate to the Start page, click Control Panel

→Programs→Programs and Features.

3.

Verify that HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Diagnostics Tool for RM for VMware
vSphere

appears in the installed program list.

Removing the RMD tool

To remove the RMD tool from Windows Server 2008 R2:
1.

Log on as system administrator.

2.

Click Start

→Control Panel→Programs and Features.
