Partitioning
and
formatting
of
a
drive
is
controlled
by
the
primary
partitioning
module
and
the
Sysprep
module.

operating-system
installation
and
basic
user
settings
are
controlled
by
the
UNATTEND.XML
module,
and
the
ImageUltra
Customizations
module
prepares
the
image
for
installing
application
modules.
You
will
need
to
provide
a
PID
and
other
customization
in
an
UNATTEND.XML
file.
Considerations
when
using
Rescue
and
Recovery
with
ImageUltra
Builder
The
ThinkVantage
Rescue
and
Recovery
product
is
available
in
three
ways:

A
Web
downloadable
version
licensed
for
ThinkPad,
ThinkCentre,
and
NetVista
computers
only.
This
version
does
not
use
a
physical
service
partition.
All
critical
recovery
files
are
stored
in
a
virtual
service
partition,
which
resides
on
the
C
drive.
The
virtual
service
partition
is
hidden
and
behaves
just
like
a
physical
service
partition,
however
installation
is
simpler
and
faster
than
possible
with
Rapid
Restore
PC
because
data
does
not
have
to
be
restructured
to
create
a
new
service
partition
or
resize
an
existing
service
partition.
This
version
contains
a
BIOS
check
to
verify
that
the
computer
it
is
being
installed
on
is
in
fact
a
Lenovo
branded
computer.

retail
version
with
per-seat
licenses
for
non-Lenovo
branded
computers:
This
version
is
functionally
identical
to
the
Web-downloadable
version
except
it
does
not
contain
the
BIOS
check.
Therefore,
it
can
be
installed
on
practically
any
personal
computer.
For

about
purchasing
the
retail
version,
contact
your
Lenovo
Marketing
representative.

preinstalled
version
on
many
new
ThinkPad
and
ThinkCentre
computers:
This
version
uses
a
physical
service
partition
for
many
of
the
recovery
and
diagnostic
tools
as
well
as
Windows-based
files
for
the
Rapid
Restore
backup
tool
and
recovery
CD
creation
tools.
Do
not
attempt
to
import
and
use
Rescue
and
Recovery
modules
from
the
service
partition
of
a
new
ThinkPad
or
ThinkCentre
computers.
Instead,
use
the
Web
downloadable
version
or
the
retail
version.
This
version
of
the
ImageUltra
Builder
program
does
not
support
importing
the
modules
associated
with
the
ThinkVantage
Rescue
and
Recovery
product
that
comes
preinstalled
on
select
Lenovo-branded
personal
computers.
You
must
create
your
own
modules
using
either
the
Web-downloadable
version
(for
use
with
Lenovo-branded
computers
only)
or
the
retail
version
(for
use
with
Lenovo
branded
computers
and
other
computer
brands)
of
the
ThinkVantage
Rescue
and
Recovery
product.

Notes:
1.
If
you
intend
to
create
an
image
that
includes
either
the
Web-downloadable
version
or
retail
version
of
the
ThinkVantage
Rescue
and
Recovery
product,
you
must
define
a
custom
service
partition
size
that
leaves
a
fixed
buffer
of
at
least
500
MB
through
the
Partitions
tab
of
the
Base
Map
settings.
2.
By
default,
the
Web-downloadable
version
and
retail
version
of
the
ThinkVantage
Rescue
and
Recovery
product
does
not
create
a
physical
service
partition
as
part
of
its
installation
process;
instead
it
creates
a
virtual
service
partition
on
the
C
drive.
However,
when
installed
under
the
control
of
the
ImageUltra
Builder
program,
these
versions
of
the
ThinkVantage
Rescue
and
Recovery
product
detect
the
presence
of
the
physical
service
partition
created
by
the
ImageUltra
Builder
