6.14 Sending a fax after cancelling ECM mode (ECM OFF)
ECM OFF
ECM OFF is a function to send a fax after cancelling the ECM mode and shortening the communication time.
ECM mode is provided for communication of error resending method decided by ITU-T (International
Telecommunication Union). In the communication between faxes with the ECM mode, as the communication
is carried out while confirming that there is no error in the sent data, image disarry due to static in the
telephone line can be prevented during communication.
In this machine, a fax is sent by ECM mode till ECM OFF is specified.

Note
Following functions cannot be used simultaneously.
Polling RX, Polling TX, V. 34 OFF, Bulletin board registration, Bulletin board Polling RX
When there is a lot of static in the telephone line, communication time might be longer as compared to
when the ECM mode is set to ECM OFF.
Sending the fax after specifying ECM OFF

Press [Fax/Scan] key to display the Fax/Scan screen.

Load the original.
– For details on loading originals, refer to "Loading the original" on page 2-6.

Touch [Communication Settings].

Touch [Line Settings].

Touch [ECM OFF].
– Touch [ECM OFF] again to cancel the settings.
