OPERATING FIREPLACE

Continued

2. The receiver continuously receives signals

from the hand-held remote to control the

room temperature. If the hand-held remote

is misplaced, obstructed or for any reason

cannot transmit to the receiver, the receiver

will shut off the fireplace after 8 minutes.

Key Pad Lock Feature

This feature allows the user to lock/unlock

the keypad on the hand-held remote in the

MANU or AUTO mode to prevent inadvertent

operation (i.e. children operating the hand-held

remote control, etc.). The keypad is locked in

either on or off. Press the POWER and LOCK

buttons together to turn the unit on or off.

INSPECTING BURNERS

Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame pat-

terns often.

PILOT FLAME PATTERN

Figure 35 shows a correct pilot flame pattern.

Figure 36 shows an incorrect pilot flame pattern.

The incorrect pilot flame is not touching the ther-

mocouple. This will cause the thermocouple to

cool. When the thermocouple cools, the fireplace

will shut down.
If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shown in

Figure 36
• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-

pliance, page 20 or 22, depending on your

model.)

• see Troubleshooting, page 27
Note:

The correct pilot flame on natural gas units

will have a slight curve, but flame should be blue

and have no yellow or orange color.

MAIN BURNER

Periodically inspect all burner flame holes with the

heater running. All slotted burner flame holes should

be open with yellow flame present. All round burner

flame holes should be open with a small blue flame

present. Some burner flame holes may become

blocked by debris or rust, with no flame present. If

so, turn off heater and let cool. Remove blockage.

Blocked burner flame holes may create soot.

FRONT BURNER FLAME PATTERN

Figure 37 shows correct front burner flame pat-

tern. Figure 38 shows incorrect front burner flame

pattern. The incorrect burner flame pattern shows

yellow tipping at top of blue flame.
If front burner flame pattern is incorrect, as

shown in Figure 38
• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-

pliance, page 20 or 22, depending on your

model.)

• see Troubleshooting, page 27
