Engine oil and filter

Check engine oil daily and after every 4 hours of operation. The crankcase dipstick is located at the front of the

engine (FIG. 35) and oil filler tube is located on top of the engine (FIG. 36). Tractor must be sitting level when checking
oil. Refer to engine manual and maintenance schedule for oil recommendation and capacities.

Change the engine oil and filter (FIG. 37) after the first 50 hours of operation, per the engine manufacturer’s recom-

mendations after that. If tractor is being operated in extremely dirty conditions, then it is recommended oil be changed
more frequently.

The oil drain is located on the underneath side of the engine FIG. 38

Changing the oil

1. Before adding engine oil, place the unit on a level surface, then remove the dipstick to

provide crankcase ventilation.

2. Use an engine oil fill device that is smaller than the oil fill hole, allowing air to pass along

the sides of the oil fill hole.

3. Add engine oil slowly, at a rate that does not flood the valve cover.
4. When changing the engine oil, add the exact amount specified in the engine owner’s

manual.

5. Allow enough time for the oil to drain into the oil pan. Confirm this by checking the oil

level with the dip stick, repeatedly, until it stabilizes.

6. Check the oil level, accounting for the higher oil level due to the oil filter oil capacity.
7. If the oil level is low, oil may have entered Engine Breather Valve System and into the

intake manifold and the cylinder(s). If so, the oil must be removed before cranking the
engine.
