Watch out for steam, never lift the
tank lid during the brewing cycle or
touch the hotplate.

Keep children away from the
machine. And never let the cord
hang down where a child could
grab it. Push excess cord inside the
back of the machine (CM170 series
only).

Never use a damaged machine. Get
it checked or repaired: see ‘service’.

Never put the machine in water or
let the cord or plug get wet - you
could get an electric shock.

Unplug:

before filling with water

before cleaning

after use.

Never leave the machine on
unattended.

Don’t let the cord touch hot parts.

Don’t let infirm people use the
machine without supervision.

Don’t let children play with this
machine.

Only use the machine for its
intended domestic use.

Always make sure there is water in
the tank before switching on.

to make coffee

1 Pour water into the tank. The water

must be between the top and
bottom cup marks. Then close the
lid.

Use cold water. We recommend
using filtered water from a Kenwood
Water Filter as it reduces limescale.
Never use warm or fizzy water.

If you use the jug to fill the tank, look
at the tank marks, not the jug marks.
They’re slightly different to allow for
the fact that some of the water gets
absorbed by the coffee.

2 Open the filter door.
3 Add either a permanent filter or a

paper filter. Add the coffee, use the
spoon provided (approximately 1
level spoon per large cup). Then
close the filter door.

4 Put the jug on the hotplate.
5 Plug in and switch on, the light will

glow.
