INTRODUCTION
To get the best out of your new appliance, please read this user
guide carefully before using it for the first time. We also re-
commend that you keep the instructions for future reference, so
that you can remind yourself of the functions of your appliance.

SAFETY MEASURES
Normal use of the appliance
• Incorrect use of this appliance may cause personal injury and

damage.

• Use for its intended purpose only. The manufacturer is not

responsible for any injury or damage resulting from incorrect
use or handling (see also Guarantee Terms).

• For connection to 230 V, 50 Hz only.
• Do not submerge in water or any other liquid.
• Do not use in humid surroundings.
• Do not touch with wet hands.
• Never leave unattended when in use, and keep an eye on

children.

• Not suitable for commercial or outdoor use.
• Do not cover.

Cord, plug and mains socket
• Always turn the appliance off using the on/off button, and

unplug it, when it is not in use.

• Keep cord away from hot objects and open flame.
• Check regularly that neither the cord nor plug is damaged and

do not use if there is any damage, or if it has been dropped
on the floor, dropped in water or damaged in any other way.

• If the apparatus or plug is damaged, it must be inspected

and if necessary, repaired by an authorised repair engineer,
otherwise there is a risk of electric shock. Never try to repair
the appliance yourself.

• Remove the plug from the socket before cleaning.
• Avoid pulling the cord when removing the plug from the

socket. Instead, hold the plug.

• Do not wind the cord around the appliance.
• Check that it is not possible to pull or trip over the cord or any

extension cord.

Use of light therapy
• Do not use in rooms without some other light source. For use

as a light supplement only, not illumination.

• Do not look directly at the apparatus for long periods. Follow

the user guide below.

• Initial use can cause tired eyes and/or headache. This is

normal, and such effects will soon disappear. Seek medical
advice if they do not.

• Consult your doctor before using this apparatus if you
o suffer from or have suffered from severe depression
o are over-sensitive to light
o have painful eyes
o use particular forms of medicine such as psychopharmacia or

malaria pills

o suffer from high blood pressure.
• Consult your doctor if the apparatus causes physical or men-

tal symptoms of any sort, or if you have any other medical
questions or problems.

USING THE APPARATUS
For light baths/light therapy to counter the effects of winter blues,
which can cause the following symptoms:
• Tiredness
• Bad moods or mood swings
• lack of energy
• Increased need for sleep
• Inability to concentrate
• Loss of appetite
Over 60% of the population are believed to experience one or
more symptoms of winter blues due to the low intensity of the
winter sun.

The most effective time of day to take a light bath is between 6
am and 8 pm for a recommended period of 2 hours per day.
You can take a light bath as often as you like, but treatment is
most effective when you take one for the times below for at least
5 successive days.

Positioning the appliance
• Fold the stand (6) out and place the apparatus on a table top.

or

• Hang the apparatus on a wall using the hole (2) on the back.
o Check that the wall and screw/nail can bear the weight of the

apparatus before hanging it up.

Use
• Connect the plug to the mains socket and switch on using the

on/off switch (3).

• Sit in front of the apparatus so that you can see the light

easily and with your face 20-60 cm from the screen (1). You
do not need to sit in front of the screen.

• How long your light bath should last depends on the distance

you sit from the screen:
