Stackable Fast Ethernet Switch
100BASE-TX/FX, 1000BASE-SX Ports

TigerSwitch 10/100/1000

From SMC’s Tiger line of feature-rich workgroup LAN solutions

SMC’s TigerSwitch™ 10/100/1000, SMC6912M/24M, is a new-generation switch with a hefty
4 Gbps backplane that supports stacking up to four units. It includes 12/24 fixed auto negotiating
10BASE-T /100BASE-TX ports on the front-panel, and three slots on the rear panel for optional
modules. These include dual-port 100BASE-FX or single-port 1000BASE-SX media modules
(allowing up to two FX or SX modules on a stand-alone unit), a stacking module, and a
management module. With a host of advanced features and comprehensive management
capabilities, the TigerSwitch stack provides a potent solution for your network backbone.
This TigerSwitch also comes fully-loaded with advanced performance-enhancing features.
Port-based and tagged VLANs, plus support for automatic GVRP VLAN registration provide traffic
security and efficient use of network bandwidth. QoS priority queueing ensures the minimum delay
for real-time multimedia data across the network. Flow control eliminates the loss of packets due
to bottlenecks caused by port saturation. And broadcast storm control prevents broadcast traffic
storms from engulfing the network.
The switch’s integrated SNMP management agent supports 4-group RMON with in-band and out-
of-band management. What’s more, the Web-based interface allows the TigerSwitch to be
managed any time from anywhere, removing the limitations and costs associated with a fixed
management station.
