Using the Options Menu

You use the phone keypad (

0, 1 to

9) to enter text on you phone. There
are five different ways to enter text:

Battery Saving Mode

This option can help you to conserve
battery power by activating DTX
(Discontinuous Transmission), and
deactivating the backlight for incoming
Cell Broadcast messages.

The option has two settings:

On

and

Off

.

Select Keypad Tones

This option allows you to change or
disable the tones you hear when you press
a key.

The option has three settings:

Normal

Tones

,

Single Tone

and

No Tones

.

iTAP

Press a key to generate a
character, and a dynamic
dictionary uses this to build
and display a set of word or
name options. Please note
that iTAP may not be available
on the phone in all languages.

Tap

Press a key to generate a
character.

Numeric

The keypad produces numeric
characters only. For some text
areas, this is the only method
available (phone numbers, for
example).

Pin-Yin/
Stroke

When using Simplified
Chinese, this method lets you
enter Simplified Chinese
words.

Zhu-Yin

When using Complex Chinese,
this method lets you enter
Complex Chinese words.
