Using the sub woofer

(MHC-GX90D and RV800D only)

You can use the sound of the sub woofer to suit
the sound source.

Press ON/OFF on the sub woofer.

The indicator lights up while the sub woofer
turns on.

Press the button again to turn off the sub
woofer.

Tip

You can use VOLUME (or VOL – or + on the
remote) to adjust the volume of the sub woofer linked
to the front speakers.

Selecting the surround
effect

Press SURROUND on the remote.

Each time you press the button, the display
changes as follows:

VIRTUAL*

t SURR ON t SURR OFF

(off)

* “VIRTUAL” appears, but the sound field with

virtual speaker effect is only reproduced for a 2ch
source DVD.

Note

When you select other sound effects, the surround
effect will be canceled.

Turning off the display

— Power Saving Mode

The demonstration display (display window
and buttons lighting and flashing even when
the system power is off) and the clock display
can be turned off to minimize the amount of
power consumed during standby (Power
Saving Mode).

Press DISPLAY repeatedly while the
system is off until the demonstration
display or the clock display disappears.

To cancel the Power Saving Mode

Press DISPLAY while the system is off. Each
time you press the button, the display switches
cyclically as follows:

Demonstration display

t Clock display* t

No display (Power Saving Mode)

* The clock is displayed only if you set the clock.

Tips

• ?/1 indicator lights up even in the Power Saving

Mode.

• The timer continues to operate in Power Saving

Mode.

Note

You cannot perform the following operations in
Power Saving Mode.
— setting the clock
— changing the AM tuning interval (except for

European, Middle Eastern and Philippine models)

— turning on the system by pressing the function

buttons

— switching the MD (VIDEO) function
— changing the color system
