Scanning
Scanning 1-D Bar Codes
To scan a 1-D bar code:
1. Make sure all connections are secure, and the symbol you
want to scan is within the scanning range.
2. Aim the scanner at the symbol and press the trigger. The scan-
ning beam remains on for approximately 3.0 seconds (default)
or until a successful decode.
The scanner has read the symbol when:
• You hear a short, high tone beep (if the beeper is enabled).
• The yellow LED on the rear of the scanner turns green.
The green LED stays lit for two seconds or until the next trigger
pull.
Scanning PDF417 (2-D) Bar Codes
The PDF417 bar code type is enabled by default; to disable it, scan
this bar code:
DISABLE PDF417
To enable PDF scanning, scan the bar code below. (These bar codes
can also be found in the LS 4000P Product Reference Guide, p/n
70-37631-xx.
