• The voltage of your power source must be as indicated on the device.
• Only connect to an AC power source (alternating current).
• Please ensure that the connecting power cable will not touch any hot parts of this

device or of any other electrical appliance close by.

• The device must be placed on a heat resistant surface. As a general fire precaution

the unit should be placed at a minimum distance of 10 cm from any wall surface.
Please allow for sufficient free space above the device and ensure unhindered air
circulation.

• During operation the device becomes hot. Be careful not to burn yourself!
• Children are often unaware of the potential dangers from electric equipment.

Therefore never allow children to use this device without appropriate supervision.

• Never submerge the unit in water for cleaning purposes. Neither water nor steam

should be permitted to penetrate from below and no kind of steam jet cleaning
equipment should be used.

• The device should never be used as a substitute radiator for heating a room. As hot

oil or grease may in fact ignite the device should always be operated under close
supervision. Improper use of this device automatically invalidates the product

W

HEN USING THE UNIT FOR THE FIRST TIME

Without placing anything on the unit set the control for both plates for about 10
minutes at maximum heat. In this fashion the coating of the heating plates achieves
its optimum protective effect. For a brief moment the unit may emanate a slight
smoke. Do not be alarmed as this is normal.

• This device is equipped with a thermostat. It permits an infinite variable heat

control as well as protection against overheating. Whenever the desired
temperature is reached the control light will go off. In this way the light indicates
the continuous operation of the thermostat controlled heat regulation.

• Only use pots and frying pans of the correct diameter and of the type for electric

heating plates. Pans with an uneven base only waste electric energy.

• Avoid placing wet lids or pots on the cast iron heating plates as this may cause

them to rust.

• The model KH 2500 is equipped with a unit cover that may easily be removed for

cleaning. Do not lower the cover unless the device is switched off and the
hotplates have cooled down.
