OPERATION

RANGER 305G

B-1

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The RANGER 305G is a gasoline engine powered DC
multi-process welding power source and 120 / 240
volt AC power generator. The engine drives a genera-
tor that supplies three phase power for the DC weld-
ing circuit and single phase power for the AC auxiliary
outlets. The DC welding control system uses state of
the art Chopper Technology for superior welding
performance.

DESIGN FEATURES

FOR AUXILIARY POWER:

Start the engine and set the IDLER control switch to
the desired operating mode. Full power is available
regardless of the welding control settings providing no
welding current is being drawn.

The auxiliary power of the RANGER 305G consists of
two 20 Amp-120 VAC (5-20R) duplex receptacles and
one 50 Amp 120/240 VAC (14-50R) receptacle. The
240 VAC receptacle can be split for single phase 120
VAC operation.

ENGINE OPERATION

Before Starting the Engine:

• Be sure the machine is on a level surface.

• Open top engine door and remove the engine oil

dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth. Reinsert the
dipstick and check the level on the dipstick.
