OPERATION

Starting the Engine

1. Turn the key to the ON position.
2. Pull the engine stop switch up to the RUN position.

3. Do not apply throttle when starting the engine unless extremely cold

temperatures (below -15

° F/-26° C) prevent the engine from start-

ing.

NOTE:

Under these conditions, attempt to start the engine without using the

throttle. If two to three attempts are unsuccessful, apply 1/8 to 1/4

throttle while cranking the engine. Ease off the throttle immediately

when the engine starts. Continue to apply just enough throttle to keep

the engine running until it idles smoothly.

4. Turn the key to START to crank the engine. Release the key to the

ON position when the engine starts.

5. Repeat the cranking procedure as needed until the engine starts.

NOTE:

Always allow the engine to warm up to full operating temperature

(150° F/65° C) before shutting it down. Avoid starting and stopping the

engine with less than 5 minutes of run time when the engine is cold.

WARNING

Before starting the engine, always refer to all safety warnings pertaining to

snowmobile operation. Never start your snowmobile without checking all

components to be sure of proper operation. See Check Before Starting the

Engine beginning on page 77.

CAUTION

To avoid injury and/or engine damage, do not operate the electric starter

while the engine is running.
