PURE Drive Technology
Pioneer’s exclusive PURE Drive technology encompasses the entire
range of image generation and processing that delivers the
PDP-50MXE1 and PDP-43MXE1’s astoundingly clear, smooth and natural picture. Unlike other PDP systems, PURE Drive maintains all
video signals in the digital domain, which eliminates signal loss,
reduces distortion, and provides a far greater degree of image control.
The cells of a plasma display panel are
where the light is generated and are a crucial
determinant of its image reproduction
capabilities. Pioneer has developed the Deep
Encased Cell Structure that eliminates light
leakage from neighbouring cells both above and below to sharpen image clarity.
The Deep Encased Cell has increased
phosphor volume advancing illumination
efficiency and generating much brighter
images of up to 1100 candelas. The
efficiency gains ensure that the PDP- 50MXE1 and the PDP-43MXE1 offer the
lowest power consumption in the WXGA
class. Pioneer has further refined this
technology by improving the green
phosphor to support better colour balance
and superior greyscale performance.

Improved Deep Encased Cell Structure Super CLEAR Drive
An important innovation is Super CLEAR Drive
technology. It processes the basic colour
elements enabling the reproduction of an
astonishing 1.07 billion colours. It also virtually
eliminates false contouring and improves
greyscale by increasing the gradation steps
from 1/5000 to 1/32500.
Pure Colour Filter II
Pioneer’s innovative Pure Colour Filter II greatly
decreases external light reflectivity. The result is
significantly higher contrast that provides an extremely
clear display even in light intensive environments.
It also reduces the unnecessary frequency
components of the red, green and blue signals to
deliver improved colour reproduction and purity.
The Pure Colour Filter II enables viewers to enjoy
sharp pictures with no reduction in black contrast.
Brightness / Contrast
Pioneer Plasmas are the brightest in the
industry and have incredibly high contrast.
The panels produce an astounding 1000
candela brightness and 1100:1 contrast
ratio on the PDP-50MXE1 and 1100
candelas/1200:1 on the PDP-43MXE1.
DNR and MPEG Noise
Reduction
DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) reduces
background noise when receiving analogue
PC and video inputs.
MPEG NR is a new feature that reduces
picture noise caused by MPEG compression.
Natural Resize
Artifacts caused by scaling are reduced
producing a clear, bright, natural image.
Y/C Separator*
An adaptive 3 line digital Y/C separator
circuit for PAL and a digital BPF (Band Pass
Filter) for SECAM, reduces dot disturbance
dramatically.

Natural Enhancer
The Natural Enhancer uses an Unsharp Mask
filter to enhance outlines within an image.
IP Conversion
Interlaced images are converted to progressive
to remove jagged edges. This creates a high
density video signal resulting in a more natural
and crisp image.
CTI Circuit and 10 bit Digital
Chroma Decoder*
The Digital CTI (Colour Transient
Improvement) and 10 bit decoder circuits
significantly reduce colour noise and make
colour edges smoother and sharper.
Pure Cinema Mode*
Complete synchronisation of images from
PAL, NTSC and 24 frame film sources
provide a perfect cinema experience.
* Video signals can only be input after installation of an
optional video expansion card (e.g. Pioneer PDA-5003/4)

Digital Flicker Free System
Removes any trace of flicker from any image
displayed.
A stunning 1024 grey scales can now be
achieved and the overall effect ensures that
alternative displays simply cannot match the
subtlety of colour and superb contrast – even
in dark scenes – offered by Pioneer.
