RIBBON CARTRIDGE REMOVAL

To remove the ribbon cartridge, place your finger under the
ribbon cartridge at the location shown in Figure 2 near the
manual advance knob. Lift upward firmly until the
cartridge snaps loose.

PRINTER OPERATION

The LS3E Printer is extremely versatile and is designed to
accommodate all levels of experience. The user can view and
select options through use of the SETUP menu. The
experienced user can quickly configure the printer to the
desired formats using the Quik-Key

TM

options or if

completing repetitive jobs can use the custom formatting
option immediately after turning the printer on. The use of
each of these options is covered below in Sections 1 through 3.

Unexpected printing results.

Printhead does not slide freely
or fully.

Ribbon is not advancing
properly.

Code vs. Size error message.

Character does not display on
screen when key is depressed.

Printhead shafts need to be
lubricated.

Battery pack is fully drained.

Ribbon is not loaded correctly.

Ribbon drive pin needs to be
lubricated.

Printer width sensor detects
label width different than that
defined by the label code.

Key is stuck.

Battery pack is fully drained.

Printhead is not moving freely,
causing text to be compressed
together or printed on edge of
label.

Charge battery pack, if “LOW
BATTERY” warning message
was previously received.

Make sure ribbon is advancing
freely.

Make sure no labels are stuck
in the printer.

If required, lubricate
printhead shafts (see below
for more information).

Carefully apply a thin film of oil
(Tuffoil Lubit-8, or equivalent)
to the 2 printhead shafts. Tuffoil
Lubit-8 is manufactured by:

Charge battery pack, if “LOW
BATTERY” warning message
was previously received.

Load ribbon properly between
the printhead and print shield.

Carefully apply a small amount
of oil to the drive pin (Tuffoil
Lubit-8, or equivalent).

Verify label code and enter
correct label code, if incorrect.

Close printer door.

Press any key to clear error
message, and ignore.

Make sure no keys are stuck in
the depressed position.

WARNING:
Do not operate the printer when the ribbon
cartridge is not installed. This may cause damage
to the print head.
