Maintenance

Track Inspection

WARNING

Inspecting the track while the engine is running can result in

serious personal injury if the track should being to move. Never

inspect the track with the engine running

Using a hoist or jackstand,

safely lift and support the

rear of the snowmobile off

the ground. Rotate the track

by hand to check for any

possible damage.
To inspect track rods,

carefully examine the track

along the entire length of

each rod, bending the track

and inspecting for breakage.

The three most common

places where breakage

occurs are shown in the

illustration.
Check the track clips and tighten if loose. If any rod damage is found,

the track should be replaced.

WARNING

Serious personal injury or death may occur if the snowmobile is

operated with a damaged track. Broken track rods are a serious

hazard, since they can cause a rotating track to come off the

machine. Never operate the snowmobile or rotate under power a

track that’s torn or damaged.

NOTE: The 120 snowmobile track has molded in track clips. It is

common for a thin layer of rubber to detach from clip area

and peel off during initial use.
