In general, coarser grit sizes will remove the most material and finer grit sizes
will produce the best finishes.

Naturally, in all sanding operations, best results will be obtained if you select
the proper size and type of abrasives. Only garnet, aluminum oxide and
silicon carbide are recommended for use with finishing sanders. Flint paper is
not satisfactory for machine sanding, due to its weak structure.

Before starting to work, make sure you have the right abrasive for the
material on which the sander is to be used. Make sure you use the correct
size abrasive paper or cloth. Cut, do not tear, the abrasive sheets to size.

ASSEMBLY

ATTACHING STIKIT™ ABRASIVE

Stikit™ abrasives (ten yard rolls) and a convenient dispenser are available
from your Porter-Cable distributor.

To install Stikit™ abrasive, cut a 4

" long piece of abrasive from roll, align

abrasive with sander pad and press in place as shown in Fig. 1.

To remove, lift one corner of abrasive with fingernail and peel off.

ATTACHING CONVENTIONAL ABRASIVE

CAUTION: DISCONNECT TOOL FROM POWER SOURCE.

1.

Insert small end of wrench, furnished with sander, into slot (A), Fig. 2,

with hump of the wrench in up position, and press wrench toward sander
housing to open clamp.

2.

Slip one end of abrasive sheet under clamp, stretch sheet tight over

pad, open rear clamp with wrench and slip free end of abrasive sheet
under rear clamp.

OPERATION

TO START AND STOP SANDER

1.

CAUTION: Make sure switch (A), Fig. 3, is in “OFF” position.

2.

Make sure power source voltage is the same as specified on the

sander’s specification plate.

3.

Insert cord plug into power source outlet.
