The eClient incorporates several ports to

enable connection with peripheral equipment. These

include dual USB downstream ports, a parallel port

for a printer, and a 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet connec-

tor for smooth, fast connections with the terminal

server. The serial (RS-232C) port accepts peripherals

for a variety of working environments: a modem for

accessing the network from remote locations, a

barcode scanner for inventory and production

control, a credit card reader for use in retail and

banking, or an IC card reader for user identification

and general network security. Other peripherals, such

as a wireless LAN adapter or Hayes AT-compatible

modem adapter, can be connected via the unit’s

PCMCIA Type II slot.

Built-in PCMCIA

On-site configuration of each individual

terminal in a network costs time and money — an

element of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) that is

eliminated by EIZO’s Network Administrator 3.

This valuable software allows quick, easy management

of each eClient in a network directly from the host

server. System administrators can use it to configure

and update client settings, specify or change client IP

addresses, and update firmware. Terminal property

settings for one eClient can be saved to the FTP server

and applied from there to others. Network Admin-

-istrator also supports Wake-on-LAN, which turns on

the power for any eClient and allows off-hours updating

and maintenance of terminals, individually or in work

groups. Network Administrator 3 will be available for

download from eclient.eizo.com free of charge from

May 2004.

The eClient 630L-N complies with the

industry’s current ergonomic and energy standards,

including TCO’99, TÜV/Ergonomics, the CE Mark,

and the EPA Energy Star

®

Program.

The eClient 630L-N and 630LT-GR-N offer indus-

try-leading standards of flexibility and performance with

an all-in-one design and inclusion of the Windows CE 4.1

operating system. As with all previous thin client products

from EIZO, the interface with the server is entirely digital

and the image quality is consistently clear, bright and

stable. Incorporating multiple peripheral ports and built-

in stereo speakers, the single-unit design features a slim,

compact profile that allows mounting on the desktop,

wall or adjustable arm, according to choice. A valuable

management option is Network Administrator, an EIZO-

developed program that allows individual client configu-

ration and maintenance directly from the server.

For the growing number of multi-client installa-

tions in administrative, educational, retail, call center and

similar work environments, EIZO’s eClient 630L-N and

630LT-GR-N present a high-performance, fully-integrated

solution with significant cost and space advantages over

cumbersome alternatives which require the WBT and the

monitor to be purchased separately.

T H E I M A G E O F C L A R I T Y

EIZO’s reputation for providing leading visual

display solutions is perfectly exemplified by the eClient.

The figures tell a tale unmatched by other WBTs:

resolution of 1024

× 768, brightness level of 300 cd/m

2

and contrast ratio of 450:1,

producing brilliantly

sharp, clear, flicker-free

images and helping to

minimize eyestrain. The fast

response time of 25 ms

prevents ghosting when

moving windows across the

screen, while viewing angles of

160

° horizontal and 150°°

vertical keep the image clear

even when seen obliquely.

Backlight brightness levels

can be adjusted by the user.

Even though the display and WBT are

combined in a single unit, the eClient remains

remarkably slim and compact — only 395 mm wide

and 164 mm deep — and thus

occupies a minimum of desktop

space. Alternatively, the panel

can be mounted on the wall or

an adjustable arm, leaving only

the keyboard and mouse on the

desk. This valuable space-saving

efficiency is matched by quick, easy

installation: apart from the cord from the built-in

power supply unit, connection to the server is via a

single Ethernet cable. With no fan or other moving

parts, operation is virtually silent.

The eClient 630LT-GR-N incorporates a

touchscreen for fast, easy data input by finger or

pen. This practical alternative is ideal for retail

environments, kiosks and factories.

P O W E R P E R F O R M A N C E

Whatever the task, the eClient is built for fast,

powerful operation. Key hardware components

include a 300 MHz CPU and 100 MHz frontside bus,

32 MB of flash memory and 64 MB of RAM.

For flexible performance with a wide range

of applications, the eClient provides connectivity to

Microsoft

Windows

®

NT

4.0 Terminal Server

Edition and Windows 2000 Terminal Services

through Microsoft’s Remote Desktop

Protocol (RDP). Additionally, with

Citrix

®

MetaFrame

, it supports Citrix Independent

Computing Architecture (ICA

®

), delivering extra

benefits such as 128-bit security encryption.

Also included in the Windows

®

CE .NET 4.1

operating system is a Microsoft Internet Explorer

browser supporting Citrix Nfuse

, a combination

which gives convenient web-based access to applica-

tions on the server.
