polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding

Additional safety information

product in or on a bed, rug, in a bookcase or cabinet that may prevent air
fl ow through vent openings.

• Do not place lighted candles, cigarettes, cigars, etc. on the product.
• Connect power cord only to AC power source as marked on the product.
• Care should be taken so that objects do not fall into the product.
• Do not attempt to disassemble the cabinet. This product does not contain

customer serviceable components.

If your product operates on batteries

Adhere to the following precautions:
A. Any battery may leak electrolyte if mixed with a diff erent battery type, if

inserted incorrectly, or if all batteries are not replaced at the same time.

B. Any battery may leak electrolyte or explode if disposed of in fi re or an attempt

is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharged.

C. Discard leaky batteries immediately. Leaking batteries can cause skin burns or

other personal injury. When discarding batteries, be sure to dispose of them in
the proper manner, according to your state/provincial and local regulations.

Important battery precautions

• Any battery may present a risk of fi re, explosion, or chemical burn if abused.

Do not try to charge a battery that is not intended to be recharged, do not
incinerate, and do not puncture.

• Non-rechargeable batteries, such as alkaline batteries, may leak if left in your

product for a long period of time. Remove the batteries from the product if
you are not going to use it for a month or more.

• If your product uses more than one battery, do not mix types and make sure

they are inserted correctly. Mixing types or inserting incorrectly may cause
them to leak.

• Discard any leaky or deformed battery immediately. They may cause skin

burns or other personal injury.

• Do not expose batteries to excessive heat (for example, by leaving them in

sunlight or close to fi re).

• Please help to protect the environment by recycling or disposing of batteries

according to federal, state, and local regulations.

Headset safety

To use a headset safely, please keep the following in mind:
• Do not play your headset at a high volume. Hearing experts advise against

continuous extended play.

• If you experience ringing in your ears, turn down the volume or stop using

the headset.

• Do not use a headset while driving a motorized vehicle or riding a bike. It may

cause a traffi

c hazard and is illegal in many areas.

• Even if your headset is an open-air type designed to let you hear outside

sounds, don’t turn up the volume so high that can’t hear sounds around you.

Getting started

Unpacking the CD player

You should have the following:

Inserting batteries

Using the CD player

Controls

1. Press and slide the battery

compartment cover on the bottom
of the player to unlock it.

2. Open the cover. Insert 2x AA

batteries (not supplied), following
the polarity markers inside the
compartment.

Connecting an AC adapter or car adapter (not supplied)

You can power the player with an AC power adapter or car adapter (4.5V DC).
• Plug the adapter into the DC socket on the side of the player.
• Disconnect the power adapter from the player to use battery power.

Playing a CD

1. Slide the OPEN switch to the right to open the CD door.
2. Place the CD on the spindle and press gently to lock the disc in place.
3. Close the CD door.
4. Press PLAY/PAUSE. The player displays “. . .” while it reads the CD, then it starts

playing the fi rst track.

• To skip to the next track, press .
• To skip to the start of the track, press . Press again to skip to the

previous track.

• To fast forward or reverse, press and hold or .
• To skip to the fi rst track in the next folder while playing an MP3 disc,

press DIR/ASP.

• To pause/resume playback, press PLAY/PAUSE. The playing time fl ashes when

the player is paused.

• To stop playback, press STOP.
• To turn the player off , press STOP again while the player is stopped.

(The player turns off automatically after 30 seconds when stopped.)

Changing the playback mode

During playback, press PROG/MODE to cycle through the playback options. The
display shows the playback mode:

Programming a playlist

You can program a playlist of up to 64 tracks:
1. While the player is stopped, press PROG/MODE. The fi rst program location

“01” appears on the display while “PGM” and the track number fl ash.

2. Press or to choose the fi rst track.
3. Press PROG/MODE to store the track in the “01” location.

The display shows “02”.

4. Repeat steps 1 – 3 to add more tracks to the playlist.
5. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start playback.

To stop playback and clear the playlist, press STOP.

Locking the controls

To prevent the controls from operating accidentally, slide the HOLD switch to the
right.

Turning anti-shock protection (ASP) off

ASP turns on automatically when you play a CD. For the best sound quality when
playing audio CDs, press DIR.UP/ASP to turn ASP off .

Notes on use

• Use a soft cloth or damp chamois

leather to clean the player. Never
use solvents.

dust can impair performance.

• Do not touch the laser pickup lens.
• Do not put adhesive tape or labels

AVC MULTIMEDIA (“AVC”) makes the following limited warranty. This limited
warranty extend to the original consumer purchaser and is limited to non-
commercial use of the product.

One Year Parts & Labor Warranty

AVC products purchased in the United States are warranted to be free from defects
in materials or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of their original
retail purchase. If the unit fails to conform to this warranty, we will service the
product using new or refurbished parts and products, at AVC’s sole discretion.

During a period of one year from the eff ective warranty date, AVC will provide, when
needed, service labor to repair a manufacturing defect at its designated Service
Center. To obtain warranty service in the Untied States, you must fi rst contact our
Customer Support Center at

The determination of service will be made by AVC Customer Support. PLEASE DO
NOT RETURN YOUR UNIT TO AVC WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION.
New or
remanufactured replacements for defective parts or products will be used for repairs
by AVC at its designated Service Center for one year from the eff ective warranty
date. Such replacement parts or products are warranted for an additional one year
from the date of repair or replacement. The Customer will be required to ship the
unit to the Service Center indicated at the time Customer Support is contacted
to make the necessary repairs. The customer is responsible for all transportation
charges to the service facility.

Packaging and Shipping Instruction
When you send the product to the AVC service facility you must use the original carton
box and packing material or an equivalent as designated by AVC.

LIMITED WARRANTY

Your Responsibility
1) You must retain the original sale receipt to provide proof of purchase.
2) These warranties are eff ective only if the product is purchased and operated in

the U.S.A. or Canada.

3) Warranties extend only to defects in material or workmanship, and do not extend

to any product or parts which have been lost or discarded, or damage to product
or parts caused by misuse, accident, improper operation or maintenance, or use in
violation of instructions provided with the product, or to product which has been
altered or modifi ed without authorization of AVC, or to products or parts thereof
which have had the serial number removed or changed.
