Color-Coded Speaker Terminals

No more worries about which speaker wire goes to which speaker terminal.
The TX-SR500 features color-coded speaker terminals that allow you to easily
connect the correct wire to the correct terminal. Simply attach the color-coded
label to the speaker cable, attach the cable to the same colored speaker terminal
for fast speaker connection.

Crossover Adjustment for Bass Management

Previously crossover frequency was fixed at 80 Hz. With Crossover Adjustment,
you can set the frequency at 80/100 or 120 Hz depending on your speakers’
bass playback ability. This lets you more accurately match the performance
characteristics of the subwoofer to your front speakers.

Designed to Handle Today’s and Tomorrow’s High-Resolution
Multichannel A/V Sources

To accommodate the wide dynamic range of sources like DVD-Audio and Super
Audio CD (SACD), the TX-SR500 delivers a stereo frequency response from
10 Hz to 100,000 Hz. The unit also features a 5.1-channel input, meaning it’s
ready for new multichannel formats down the road.

CinemaFILTER

The tonal balance of a film soundtrack will be edgy and “bright” when played
back over audio equipment in your home. This is because film soundtracks are
designed to be played back in large theaters using different equipment. Onkyo
has developed its own enhancement that restores the correct tonal balance for
watching a movie soundtrack in your smaller home theater.

Dot Matrix Fluorescent Display

The front panel display of the TX-SR500 just got easier to read with the 35-Dot-
Matrix Display with 3-Mode dimmer. Easy to read and use—dimmable so you
can match the ambience of any room for maximum home theater enjoyment.

Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT)

This Onkyo exclusive was originally developed for our high-end receivers. It
provides a movie-theater impact and sound purity that conventional receivers
can’t match by offering you three distinct advantages:
1) Low negative feedback design
2) Elimination of ground-potential fluctuations
3) High instantaneous current capability

Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry

To produce volume at low levels, conventional volume attenuation methods
must initially drop a signal close to the noise floor. This often taints the signal
with a small amount of noise, which becomes amplified when the signal is
amplified. Onkyo’s Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry solves this problem by
adjusting the gain so that less than half the typical amount of attenuation is
needed. This ensures that the signal never comes close to the noise floor,
and thereby eliminates the possibility of noise contamination that plagues
conventional volume-attenuation designs.
