call (order sequence does not matter)

NOTE 3: The Link Selection prefixes can be used for all call types (i.e. Voice, Fax,

Modem and TDD).

G. Telecommunication Device for

the Deaf (TDD)

Place the handset off-hook. If your TDD has a RJ-11 cord, connect the
cord into the RJ-11 jack on the handset. Press “5” (TDD) and dial the
telephone number from either the handset or the TDD unit.

NOTE 1: For a ground-to-air TDD call, a delay greater than 20 seconds is needed

after the dialed number. This is necessary to bypass the voice prompts,
otherwise the ground modem will disconnect the call.

NOTE 2: It is not necessary to press “5” (TDD) if this handset has been config-

ured as a TDD station. To set the station mode refer to Section VI, B5.

If you want the TDD unit to be acoustically coupled, make certain that
no RJ-11 cord is connected prior to dialing the telephone number from
the handset. When prompted, press “+” (To Use TDD Acoustic
Coupler) to indicate your desire to use the TDD acoustic coupler.

Press “End Call” to terminate the call. The connection will be termi-
nated automatically if the ground party hangs up first.
