TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

If you have followed the instructions and are having difficulty operating the unit, locate the PROBLEM

in the left column below. Check the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE column to locate the remedy to

your problem.

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

SOLUTION

No power plug connection at the AC

outlet.

No power when

POWER is on.

The MAIN POWER switch on the

back panel is off.

Insert the power plug into the AC

outlet.
Switch on the MAIN POWER.

No sound.

Volume control is set to minimum.

The wrong function is selected.

Turn up the MASTER VOLUME.

Select the correct function.

CASSETTE

Unsteady tape sound.

Dirty capstan.
Irregular cassette tape winding.
Pitch knob may be in wrong position.

Clean capstan.
Replace tape.
Adjust Pitch knob.

Cannot record.

The erasure prevention tabs are

broken out.
Play button and Record button were

not pressed down simultaneously.

Replace tape or cover tab openings

with adhesive tape.

When recording, make sure that both

the Record and Play buttons are

pressed down at the same time.

CD PLAYER

Cannot work normally.

Recorded tape sound

is distorted.

Dirty head.
Faulty cassette tape.

Clean capstan.
Replace tape.

Disc is inserted upside down.

Insert disc correctly.

Disc is dirty.

Wipe clean with soft cloth.

Disc is scratched.

Use a new disc.

Disc seriously warped.

Use a new disc.

A nonstandard disc is inserted.

Use only brand name disc.

Moisture has formed inside the CD

deck.

Wait about 20 to 30 minutes to let it

dry out.

No song lyrics appear

on screen.

Video cable is not connected prop-

erly to the TV.

Connect the video cable to the
system

VIDEO OUT and to the TV

VIDEO IN.

Source selector on TV is not set to

VIDEO.

Using your TV remote to select VIDEO

input.

TV does not have video line input.

Connect from VIDEO OUT of the sys-

tem to the VIDEO IN of your VCR or

connect to an RF modulator and then

to the TV cable input.

Song lyrics leave

double image during

play.

Operating play-pause-play-pause

continuously on a song selection

will cause double image.

Return to the start of the song selec-

tion to reset or clear video screen.

Blurred TV screen

shown.

Incorrect setting of PAL/NTSC

switch.

Select the correct mode on the back

panel.

Cannot copy from

DECK 2 to DECK 1.

Unrecorded tape inserted into

DECK 2.

Insert a pre-recorded tape to DECK 2.

PLAY/RECORD function selector B

in the wrong Mode.

Set the Function button to TAPE Mode.
