CARE AND MAINTENANCE

POWER SWITCH
After using the STVG-700, turn off the power
by pressing the power switch.

CLEANING THE UNIT
To clean the unit, simply wipe with a soft
clean cloth moistened with plain lukewarm
water.

CLEANING TAPE HEAD
When the tape is running, magnetic tape
r e s i d u e , p o w d e r a n d d u s t n a t u r a l l y
a c c u m u l a t e o n t h e ta p e d e c k h e a d s ,
c a p s t a n a n d p i n c h r o l l e r , w h e n t h e y
become too dirty, you will find:
* Sound quality deteriorates.
* The output sound level drops.
* The previous recording is not completely
erased.
* Recording is not performed satisfactorily.
Therefore, for continued high performance
form the cassette section, periodically
clean the heads, pinch rollers and capstans
whenever an accumulation of dust and
red-brown oxide particles is noticed. To
do this, open the cassette holder. Remove
a n y c a s s e t t e s s t i l l i n t h e c a s s e t t e
compartments. Carefully rub each head
( 4 , 5 , 8 ) , p i n c h r o l l e r ( 3 , 7 ) a n d c a ps t a n
(2,6) with a cotton swab (1) moistened
with isopropyl alcohol or special head-
cleaning fluid.

Proprietary tape head cleaners are
available from most HI-FI retail outlets.

CASSETTE DECK CARE
Use a clean soft cloth moistened with plain
lukewarm water and wrung dry. Never use
benzol, benzene or other strong chemical
cleaners since these could damage the
finish or your unit. It is important that no
liquid reaches the inside of the unit.

NOTE
* Screwdriver and other metal objects
s h o u l d n e v e r b e a l l o w e d t o c o m e i n
contact with tape heads.
These will scratch the sensitive surface
causing damage to your tapes.
* Magnets or magnetized objects should
not be placed near tape heads.

To prevent fire or shock hazard,
disconnect your stereo system
from the AC power plug when
cleaning.

COMPACT DISC
Handling Disc
Although the music tracks in the disc are
covered with a protective layer, it is still
a d v i s a b l e t o t r e a t t h e d i s c c a r e f u l l y.
Ensure that you always pick up discs by
t h e e d g e , a n d p u t t h e m b a c k i n t h e i r
holders immediately after use.

CLEANING DISC
Cleaning will not normally be necessary.
However, should fingerprints, dust or
dirt appear, you can wipe them off with a
soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe the disc in a
straight line from centre to edge. You can
moisten the disc first if necessary.

NOTE: Do not use the detergent
or abrasive cleaning agents, for
they can damage the disc.

CD PLAYER
T h e p l a y e r m e c h a n i s m i s f i t t e d w i t h
self-lubricating bearing and must not be
oiled or greased.
