INSTALLATION

1. Place your TOPCOM AGIA on a hard flat surface.

2. Connect the telephone plug of the answering machine to into the telephone

wall jack.

3. Place the microcassette into the machine, with the empty reel on the left.

4. Connect the power plug to the power socket in the back of the answering

machine.

5. Connect the AC adaptor to the AC wall outlet.

CAUTION: Be sure to put the microcassette tape in the machine before connect-
ing the AC adaptor, otherwise the unit will not work.

ANSWERING MACHINE OPERATION

Recording and checking outgoing message (OGM):

1. Press and hold the OGM button

until you hear a BEEP. The LED-display

will light.

2. Start speaking as soon as the microcassette winds forward. The OGM can be

up to 2,5 minutes long.

3. Press the STOP button

once to end recording. Your unit will automati-

cally play back your OGM once.

4. Press the OGM button

to check your OGM once again.

OGM-examples:

“Hello, Robin and Marion Hood are unable to answer the telephone at this time.
After the beep, please leave your name, telephone number and a short message.
We will return your call as soon as possible.”

“Hello, Anne and Peter Cooper are not here for the moment. But if you leave
your name, (telephone) number and your message after the beep, we will call
you back as soon as possible. Thank you.”

Automatic answering mode

1. Press the ANSWER ON/OFF button

once. The LED display

will light.

Note: If no outgoing message (OGM) has been recorded, the LED display

(14)

will blink and the machine will emit 2 BEEPS when any key is pressed.

2. Your unit is now ready to answer phone calls.

N o t e : Each incoming message (ICM) can be up to 2,5 minutes. If the unit notes
an invariable tone or a silence lasting 5 seconds while recording an incoming
message, the machine will automatically break the connection. Also when the
handset is hung up, the unit recognises this and breaks the connection. The
message counter will display the number of ICMs recorded up to a maximum of
9 though there may be more than 9 ICMs recorded. When the tape is full, the
answering machine will not answer any more calls.
