When shifting from “P” (Park), the ignition switch

must be “ON,” and the brake pedal depressed.

Automatic transmission

To select “S” mode or to downshift out of
overdrive
Push the selector lever to the left
from “D.”
To shift in “S” mode Pull to “-” and release to
downshift. Push to “+” and release to upshift.

*Downshifting increases power going uphill, or
provides engine braking going downhill. For best fuel
economy during normal driving conditions, always
drive with the shift lever in the “D” position.
