Children should sit comfortably and
safely

The position of a child in the car and the
choice of equipment is dictated by the child’s
weight and size. For more information see
page 31.

Children of all ages and sizes must always sit
correctly secured in the car. Never allow a
child to sit on the knee of a passenger.

Volvo’s own child safety equipment is de-
signed for your car. Use Volvo genuine
equipment to best ensure that the mounting
points and attachments are correctly posi-
tioned and are sufficiently strong.

You may place:

• a child seat or booster cushion on the

front passenger seat, provided the pas-
senger airbag is not activated

1

.

• a rear-facing child seat in the rear seat that

uses the back of the front seat as support.

Child seats and airbags

Child seats and airbags are not compatible.

Always place a child in the rear seat if the
passenger airbag is activated

1

. A child in a

child seat on the front passenger seat may
suffer serious injury if the airbag deploys.
