Chapter 13 System Maintenance &

Information

This chapter leads you through SMT menus 24.8 to 24.10.

13.1 Command Interpreter Mode

The Command Interpreter (CI) is a part of the main router firmware. The CI provides much of the same functionality
as the SMT, while adding some low-level setup and diagnostic functions. Enter the CI from the SMT by selecting
menu 24.8. Access can be by Telnet or by a serial connection to the console port, although some commands are only
available with a serial connection. See the included disk or ZyXEL.com for more detailed information on CI
commands. Enter 8 from Menu 24 - System Maintenance. A list of valid commands can be found by typing help or ?
at the command prompt. Type “exit” to return to the SMT main menu when finished.

13.2 Time and Date Setting

The ExpWave has a Real Time Chip (RTC) that keeps track of the time and date. There is also a software
mechanism to set the time manually or get the current time and date from an external server when you turn on your
ExpWave. Menu 24.10 allows you to update the time and date settings of your ExpWave. The real time is then
displayed in the ExpWave error logs.

Select menu 24 in the main menu to open Menu 24 - System Maintenance, as shown next.
