Network Management System (NMS)

Overview

OptiCore

™ is a Network Management System developed by

ZyXEL

, as a part of the product series belonging to the MSAP

Product family. MSAP2000’s COT RJ-45 port provides
connection to the NMS via SNMP (Simple Network Management
Protocol). Operators can remotely manage MSAP2000 via
OptiCore

™’s GUIs (Graphical User Interfaces). When the

MSAP2000 COT receives commands from OptiCore

™ via SNMP

MIB, it will distribute the command signals to various RTs, for
System management.

Features

„ Cross-platform features allow different operation systems from

Server and Client ends, to be compatible with each other.

„ Provides individualized operation interfaces that are

differentiated according to different user authorization levels
and administrator settings.

„ A hierarchical network management structure
„ A comprehensive set of setting, performance, fault,

maintenance, and security management functions.

„ Compatible with several types of Database Servers
„ Compatible with several types of Java Application Servers, with

no need for Patch files.

„ Supports multi-languages; language conversion can be

conducted simply by uploading the text transfer file.

„ Able to manage more than 350 nodes at the same time

(powerful server-level PC required)

System Platform

OptiCore

™ adapts a JAVA API Platform design. It is a

multi-function network management system that supports
cross-platform integration. OptiCore NMS can simultaneously
manage 300 MSAPs, and grant simultaneous System access to at
least 10 Operators.

Communications
Standards

Adapts SNMP V2c communications standards, and is also
compatible with other standards such as SNMP V2, CORBA, TL1,
and CMIP. OptiCore

™ also supports FTP or TFTP for software

and parameter uploading and downloading.

Graphical User
Interface (GUI)

OptiCore’s

™ Java-based Windows are realistic, and user-friendly.

The graphical user interfaces (GUI) in the screens are flexible and
easy-to-navigate, and can provide step-by-step guidance to help
users become familiarized with MSAP2000 network management
functions, which will eliminate the cost required for additional
training courses.

Database

All system parameters are stored within the database. The User
may create backup copies, or conduct synchronous/asynchronous
recovery and updating of software and parameters.

Distributed
Management

The application programs within the application server can be
installed separately, to maintain maximum performance. The
subscriber can remotely conduct monitoring and management, by
connecting to the OptiCore

™ NMS Server via Java Client, Web
