Setup Flowchart
The flowcharts below show the procedure for setting up the CRW8824IX drive.

1 Turn your computer and the drive both
on (before connection).
2 Connect your computer and the
drive using an IEEE1394 interface
cable that came with the drive.
Make sure that system
configuration (CPU, RAM, OS and
so on) of your computer meets the
requirements of the CRW8824IX
drive
(P. 3).
Does your computer have a
built-in IEEE1394 port?
Set up the CRW8824IX drive (P. 10).

Make sure that the CRW8824IX
drive is correctly recognized
(P. 16).
Install the CD writing software.

Start using the CRW8824IX drive.
Do you have an appropriate
IEEE1394 interface card?
Install the card to
your computer.
Purchase an IEEE1394 card.
Use the drive to create an audio CD, to
backup data on your hard drive, or for
whatever purpose suits your needs.
The card should be known compatible
with your computer.
Read the documentation that
came with the card and properly
set up your computer.

tested in compatibility with the

n You may need a different cable
depending on the IEEE1394 port
connector on your computer (P. 13).
n Before installing the software,
disconnect all IEEE1394 devices.
