Conversion

audio on DVD recorded in
96 kHz linear PCM as it is
(No) or to convert it to
48 kHz for output (Yes).

Dolby Digital
To select the signal format
(Bitstream or PCM) to be
output from the optical
digital audio output
terminal during playback of
DVDs recorded in Dolby
Digital.

DTS Digital Surround
To select whether DTS
Digital Surround bitstream
is output from the optical
digital audio output
terminal or no digital audio
is output during playback
of DVDs recorded in DTS
Digital Surround.

No (Factory preset)
When playing a DVD recorded in 96 kHz linear PCM, signal
of 96 kHz/24 bit sampling frequency will be output and you
can enjoy high quality sound. If the DVD is copyright-
protected, no digital signal will be output unless converted to
48 kHz.
³Signal of 48 kHz linear PCM can be output from digital

audio output terminal irrespective of the setting.

Yes
When playing a DVD recorded in 96 kHz linear PCM, signal
is converted to 48 kHz/16 bit and can be output from digital
audio output terminal even if the DVD is copyright-protected.

Dolby Digital bitstream (1ch–5.1ch) is output during playback
of DVDs recorded in Dolby Digital.

PCM
Digital audio converted to 48 kHz/16 bit PCM (2ch) is output
during playback of DVDs recorded in Dolby Digital.

No digital audio is output during playback of DVDs recorded
in DTS Digital Surround.
