Installing Batteries

CONSERVING BATTERIES:

When the Weather Radio is ON The weather radio is always

“listening” for alerts, even when the audio speaker is silenced. This

requires substantial power, as a result, the batteries will last

approximately 3 days. To conserve battery power, turn the Weather

Radio function off by pressing the “PWR” button. Note that the

display will read “NOAA OFF”.

CAUTION:

When the weather radio function is OFF, you will not receive ANY

automatic WARNINGS, WATCHES or ADVISORIES.

“CHARGING”

The Hand Crank charges the included pre-installed 3.6v

Ni-MH battery pack which will power one of the following

functions for a specified amount of time:

NOTE: To prolong the life of the included pre-installed 3.6v

Ni-MH battery pack, charge at least once a month for 5

minutes using the Hand Crank.
FOR LONG TERM STORAGE: slide the POWER MODE switch to the

BATTERY MODE SELECTION to prolong the battery pack life.

1. Press the battery door

release button and slide off

the battery door.

BATTERY POWER MODE:

To use standard alkaline batteries as the main power

source, slide the POWER MODE SWITCH to the “ ”

battery mode selection.

HAND CRANK POWER MODE:

To use the HAND CRANK as the power source, slide

the POWER MODE SWITCH to the “CRANK POWER”

mode selection.

2. Install 3 “AA” standard

alkaline batteries.

3. Re-install the battery

compartment cover.

The radio will automatically turn on after

batteries are installed, press the “LISTEN”

button until the display reads “AUTO ON”

to silence the radio temporarily.
